Dekker Construction were recommended to us by a neighbour who had recently completed a house refurbishment. We inspected the house and were impressed with the quality of workmanship. Our property had the stigma of being a leaky home given the monolithic type cladding and we had always envisaged having to re-clad the property. From our first enquiries with Nathan we found a high level of professionalism and were happy with the quote which was available promptly. Nathan priced the full scope of work and his quote was well presented and very easy to follow, leaving us no surprises. Once work started it became obvious that there were many complexities that needed  skilled tradesman to over come. Nathan has a very good eye for detail and none of the challenges phased him and he skill fully developed many bespoke design solutions to deal with the many challenges that were uncovered when the existing cladding was removed.

The quality of workmanship was first class and the work ethic of both Nathan and Shane was excellent, Nathan kept us well informed on his build programme and completed the project on time.

The type of remediation project can be very stressful for home owners. Nathan took the stress out of our build with his reliability, honesty and professional ethics. 

The end result was a house we were very proud of and the transformation was testament to the quality of our builder of choice Dekker Construction.

Nine years ago we engaged Nathan and his team to undergo a complex, architect driven beachfront home construction along with demolition of an existing home.

The process was easy and enjoyable with Nathan providing excellent subcontractors and a strong work ethic. The team were at all times reliable and pleasant to work with. Problem solving and honest communication made the program run smoothly and tender price was adhered to. The build was completed within the expected time frame and was only a few weeks over the original plan. Nathan and his team worked in well with our architect and any minor disagreements were soon resolved.

The follow up care by Dekker Construction was excellent and all the post build minor problems being taken care of in a timely way. We find our property to be lasting very well now 8 years later with minimal maintenance required. We enjoy the place immensely and are proud to show it off to our friends and family.

We used Dekker Construction to strip the outside boards off our Leaky home (in Albany, Auckland) and to replace any rotting timber or dampness showing in the structure floor or walls, and to modernise the bathrooms and to enlarge our decking area adding value to our home.

They worked in conjunction with Prendos Consultants who were in control of the repair and new development, they also drew up all of the upgrades that were required.

We know the Dekker family through Nathan’s grandparents so we know they would be working to a very high standard as there “Opa” was a builder also.

We lived and worked in the house while it was being worked on although it was covered with plastic and at times a very noisy place, Dekker Construction did their best to keep the noise down to a minimum.

It took about 7 months to complete and both Nathan and Shane worked very professionally and explained everything to us showing us why some extra repair work was required due to water damage.

They were completely trustworthy and honest and we even went away for a weeks break and left them to look after our house. They are conscientious and know what they are doing, in our opinion you could not get a better team of guys to construct/repair or  build anything for you, they do not cut corners so their skill levels and workmanship is up at the highest level.

Trouble free and helpful builders who have a conscience and take pride in what they do and build, is all anyone could ask for.

We would certainly recommend them to anyone.

I was a Project Manager for Downer NZ Ltd and Dekker Construction were part of a team employed to complete three new Wastewater Treatment plant Operational Buildings at Pauanui, Whangamata and Whitianga in 2006, 2007, 2008.

These were commercial buildings constructed to a high standard including a laboratory and offices and amenities.

We found the team worked well and delivered on time under strict time constraints. Working on commercial sites as a subcontractor under a Tier 1 infrastructure company can be challenging in quality control, contractural management and Health and Safety management, but the team stepped up and upheld their end of their agreement with good communication throughout the process and were autonomous in meeting objectives.

The team site had a great work ethic, were reliable and delivered a quality product for our client, Thames Coromandel District Council. Now 10 years down the track I now work for council and these buildings remain a quality product for our operators.

I would not hesitate to recommend Nathan or his team on a renovation or a new build project.
